With Aegis, scheduled backups can still be a great tool for any company’s backup procedures. Our software includes the ability to schedule backups at any time at any frequency. Daily, weekly, biweekly, and monthly backups can be used to implement basic file versioning.

Using these features, you could easily dedicate half your allotted space for Aegis Real Time Backup, and the other half to a scheduled backup that occurs once a week. This results in having two versions of each backed up file – files backed up in real time and those that were backed up based on a schedule. In the case of an emergency, you will be able to choose which set of files you would like to recover. Or with the advanced options, mix and match between the two versions of files to recover precisely the version of each file that you need.

The scheduled backups also use your bandwidth wisely. Aegis will check if the file that is being backed up has changed since the last time that a scheduled backup had occurred. If it has, Aegis will backup the file. If not, it will simply leave the exiting version on the server. This will lead to savings in bandwidth usage.
